Alopcia is an autimmune disorder that causes hair loss.
Alopecia occurs in people who are apparently healthy and have no visible skin disorder. Initial presentation most commonly occurs in the late teenage years, early childhood, or young adulthood, but can happen with people of all ages. The condition affects 0.1%–0.2% of humans, occurring in both males and females, though far more females than males. Since it is an autoimmune problem, it means the body incorrectly sees the hair follicles as an "attacker" This results in the person's immune system going into a defensive/attack mode and destroying the hair follicles.
The condition can be responsible for partial or total body hair loss. This most commonly results in completely missing eyebrows and little to no eyelashes. As well as a physical problem it has deep psychological impact as well; especially for women. We are taught that our hair is our crowning glory and femininity is, in part, defined by attributes such as our hair, eyebrows and eyelashes. Today there are high quality human-hair wigs to cover the scalp baldness resulting from Alopecia, but what to do about the eyebrows and eyelashes?
With realistic looking hair-stroke simulation, created with multiple colors and different needle sizes, permanent eyebrows can alleviate the need to pencil artificial looking eyebrows on every day. Permanent eyebrow makeup has been described to me by Alopecia sufferers as a miracle.
In addition, the loss of eyelashes can be made less noticable by adding permanent eyeliner or lash enhancement to the eyelid rim. It helps to color the lash line, thus avoiding the pale, sometimes red-rimmed look of eyes with no lashes.
No more pencils, powers or waxes that don’t stay on, aren’t waterproof and have to be applied every day. No more challenges of getting the eyebrows to match and look the same every day. Permanent eyebrow color is THE answer for alopecia sufferers!
